Short tale of a fad and an Olympic logo

By now, even the most out of touch of us have seen that the 80's are back. I'm waiting for the remake of the movie Rad (the original of which totally lived up to its name, by the way). Until then, we all have to be satisfied with neon colors, stone washed jeans and...the big pile of crap that is the 2012 olympic logo.

Apparently it cost £400,000 (about $600k) to design. It's supposed to be "edgy" and connect with the younger generation. That statement alone shows that it was created by someone who is not edgy and is out of touch with the younger generation. Here's an alternative that someone has suggested.

Apparently the olympic committee had a logo launch video all prepared and then they had to pull it from the air at the last minute because it was found to induce epileptic seizure. No kidding! In other words, this logo is so bad it could actually kill you.
