In search of the true low fare

It's true that there are great travel opportunities from London. You can fly to nearly any major airport in the world on a direct flight. But more than that, there are a range of budget flights that will send you all over Europe for under $100.

But there's a catch. Depending on where you live in London, it can take an hour and half to get to one of the airports that service these flights.  Getting to the airport often costs as much as the flight and if the sweat deal of a flight departs at 6:30am, you may need to leave your house at 4 to catch it.

Finally, there's one particular airline which everyone loves to hate and hates to love. Ryan Air is the cheapest of the cheap (we flew to Ireland and back for $110 - two people all taxes included), but you can't believe the first price that's advertised. There are a lot of hidden fees you need to watch out for and it's best described in this really entertaining video. As a bonus, you could even say it's cultural.
