After far too long of a lapse, we used the 4 day 'Jubilee weekend' (celebrating the Queen's 60 years of reign) to head south and west to Cornwall for a bit of camping. Through the surf club I'm part of, I'd heard of a company that rents out VW campervans. Deciding this was far too cool to pass up, we packed our gear and hit the road.

One silver lining to the fact that it rained 3 out of 4 days that weekend is that you could think up good puns about the Queen's reign and the rainy weather.

We couldn't think of another silver lining. The weather sucked! We put on a happy face as best we could and pushed on. We agree that the pictures will enable us to pretend we had a joyous restful trip when in reality it was cold and damp and Lev was bit of a punk.

We loved the campervan though and have decided that owning one is in our future (not near future, but a great idea for a year or two from now maybe). Just like with the jeep, we felt part of a club as other VW van drivers would give a wave as you passed them on the road. It's great for surfing as well, as there's a bit of shelter for the wetsuit change and always a cold beverage in the fridge!

The beautiful town of St. Ives in Cornwall

Apparently they still make them new (or recently anyway) in Brazil. This is where our van was shipped from and then they converted it to a right hand steering wheel in England.
